Walking and Hiking
The area around Caherciveen and the mountains of Iveragh Peninsula offer excellent walking and hiking possibilities for all abilities. Established Loop Walks are the Benlee Loop above Caherciveen, the Gurranebawn Loop Walk through town, the Cuas Crom Circle with impressing view of the surrounding coast line and the Canglass Point Walk to a spectacular blow hole. (all walks between 3 and 6 kms.
The wildest, most scenic part of the 214-km-long
Kerry Way [more...] can be experienced in three to four days of moderate walking between Killarney and Glenbeigh, with a worthwile extension to Caherciveen. (click here for a map). We co-operate with Emir View B&B, Glenbeigh and other B&Bs along Kerry Way and provide for luggage transport between these B&Bs. We also arrange transport to/from Killarney and Kerry Airport. We are prepared for the special needs of walkers!

Sightseeing
Two interesting Ringforts (Leacanabuaile and Cahergal) as well as Ballycarbery Castle are just a few kilometres from town and are all very well worth a visit. The craggy Skellig Islands rise dramatically from the ocean about 15 kms from the western point of the peninsula and should not be missed for their bird life and the remains of the remotest Irish monastery. We arrange your boat trip to the islands! Not far from our B&B is Carhan House, the birthplace of Daniel "The Liberator" O'Connell (1775 - 1847) who won Catholic representation in Parliament in 1829. The Old Barracks Heritage Centre provides a good insight into Daniel O'Connell as well as local History.
A drive inland leads you to the spectacular mountain scenery around the remote Glencar area, including the highest mountain in Ireland,
Mount Carrantuohill.
